Future of Tennis in Brighton & Hove
When faced with council cuts that would have ultimately led to the closure of public tennis courts across the city I was forced to act and explore what could be done. With a successful online campaign I gauged the positive attitude towards the sport and non engagement of the community in council decision making. I raised a petition that received over 2000 signatures in 2 weeks, local TV, press and radio coverage I was allowed to present a counter proposal.
With limited time I conducted research across the country of the options being used to keep tennis alive and the community who can not always afford expensive club membership playing.
The council are now working with community groups and not for profit organisations to keep the courts alive.
